By |July 31st, 2025|Categories: Feature, Tree Travel|Tags: , , |

Continuing on my Alaska cruise adventure, last week I talked about Juneau and the first 3 days of the cruise.  On day 4, we stopped in Prince Rupert, BC which was again another small town where we visited the Museum of Northern British Columbia, Cow Bay and the sunken garden.  We had lunch in the town, which was a great choice and a we chose a restaurant that was suggest by our tour guide.  We returned to the ship after lunch, and I was able to get an appointment at the spa during the afternoon – nothing like a little [...]

Alaska! – Part One

By |July 17th, 2025|Categories: Feature, Tree Travel|Tags: , , |

Last week I talked in general about my first cruise experience so this week I want to talk specifically about Alaska – or at least the parts I saw.  As a recap, my friend and I chose a luxury cruise line, Seabourn, for our trip. Their ships are much smaller than the giant cruise ships (500 guest vs as much as 5,000) and this gives them a lot of advantages. We chose the 7 day cruise from Juneau to Vancouver, BC (with stops in Wrangell, AK and Prince Rupert, BC). We flew to Juneau the day before our cruise to make [...]

My First Cruise

By |July 17th, 2025|Categories: Feature, Tree Travel|Tags: , , |

I recently did two “firsts” related to my travel…first was a cruise and second was to visit Alaska.  I am going to start by talking about my first cruise experience and next week I will talk about Alaska.  I truly think that some locations may be best seen by taking a cruise, and I think Alaska is one of them (and if you didn’t read my blog on Mykonos, I talked about this as well as probably the best way to see the Greek Islands). When the opportunity came up with a friend to do an Alaska cruise, I said yes [...]

Rome, Italy

Roma!  It’s absolutely one of my favorite big cities!  Like Athens, the traffic is definitely crazy but much like every big city it is just part of the experience.  We flew from Greece (Mykonos to Athens to Rome) and found our driver waiting for us in the airport with the little sign for Theresa Conti. This was our usual prearranged transportation to our hotel (I know broken record for sure – but we never have to worry about getting where we need to.) Our glorious stay this time would be at Hotel Indigo St. George in the Centro Storico area [...]

Mykonos Greece

As I told you last week, we traveled to Greece in late May.   After spending a few days in Athens, we wanted to visit one of the Greek islands, so we chose Mykonos.  To get from Athens to Mykonos we chose to use the SeaJet service, instead of flying.  Sea Jet is a high-speed ferry service that stops at many of the islands. The first tip about the SeaJet is to make sure to book your tickets in advance.  We had done that and seeing the line to purchase tickets made me very happy that we had.  That also allowed [...]

Athens Greece

By |June 19th, 2025|Categories: Feature, Tree Travel|Tags: , , |

Last month, we took a 10-day trip to Greece and Italy (Rome.)  I love to travel internationally so I am going to share my experiences of this trip with you and break it up into posts about the three main locations we visited.  It was a great experience as I love learning about new cultures and the historical part of places we visit. Let’s start with our first stop in Athens.  I usually love to visit big cities as they have so many things to see and do, but Athens was different.  Athens was a city built for about a [...]
